GENERAL UPDATE

(Information current as of 5/14/2021)

NEMS is offering the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible patients based on the California Department of Public Health and local counties' COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan. Please see below for current eligibility guidelines:

  • Effective May 13, 2021, NEMS will provide COVID-19 vaccinations to any community member ages 12 and over!
  • New patients must register first by:
    • Dropping by one of ten NEMS clinics to register in person (using a kiosk or with staff)
    • Using our online registration portal (currently available in English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish)
    • Calling our COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Line at 415-213-1971
  • All patients under age 18 will need to have their parent/guardian accompany them to their vaccine appointment. Parents or guardians will be asked to provide contact information and a Photo ID at the appointment. For anyone under 18, please also bring your photo ID if available (for example, school ID or driver's license).

NEMS is experiencing very high call volume related to the COVID-19 vaccine. Although we strive to answer your call or respond to voice messages in a timely manner, please understand that it may take up to 24 hours to return your call; and 2-5 days to call you back for vaccine appointments. If you are having a medical or psychiatric emergency, please hang up and call 911 or go to the nearest hospital immediately.

We will also make information available on our social media and on this webpage. Please revisit this page periodically for updates.

If you are a registered NEMS member, please complete our ONLINE COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUEST.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Your NEMS ID Card (Yellow Card). Type the following information exactly as it appears on the card:
    • Last Name
    • Medical Record Number/NEMS ID Number
    • Date of Birth
  • Your contact information (please provide at least one), such as:
    • Cell/Mobile Phone number where you can receive text messages
    • Email Address
  • Phone Number where you can receive voice calls
  • Internet Access and Computer/Tablet/Smartphone

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Please read the screen instructions carefully.
  • Please answer honestly and completely as best as you can.
  • The online request form is available in English, Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese.
  • You will be asked several questions to pre-screen your eligibility for the COVID-19 Vaccine.
  • You will be asked to consent to and authorize electronic communications and electronic signatures.
  • If you are currently eligible for the vaccine, NEMS will provide you with a link and/or call you with instructions on how to schedule a COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment.
    • Please note that appointment options are limited at this time.
  • If you are not currently eligible, we will notify you of the reason why. You can use the Online COVID-19 Vaccination Request at a later time.

    Please be aware that NEMS will be using a text messaging system to alert patients of their COVID-19 vaccine eligibility and to see if they would like to be connected to a NEMS representative to schedule an appointment. The Caller ID may appear as "NORTH EAST MEDICAL SERVICES" or from phone number +1 415 539 1968. If you are able, please respond back to the text message as appropriate (do not call the phone number). If you have any problems, please call us at 415-391-9686 or 650-550-3923 or 408-573-9686.

    Please note that NEMS does not maintain information about your employment or work sector, so you may receive text messages from us regarding COVID-19 eligibility that does not apply to you. Please read the text message carefully. If you do not fit the eligibility criteria, please ignore the text message and do not call NEMS at this time.     North East Medical Services (NEMS) is providing COVID-19 testing to SYMPTOMATIC and HIGH-RISK ASYMPTOMATIC patients that have a testing order from a NEMS provider. The COVID-19 test will be conducted through one of our drive-thru or walk-thru testing sites.

    You must be an existing NEMS patients -OR- you can register as a new NEMS patient to make an appointment. Please call us at 415-391-9686 ext. 8160 to be screened first or to register/renew as a NEMS patients.

    • When calling, please be patient and continue to hold until you speak to an agent. We are experiencing high call volumes during daytime hours. You can also try calling from 6:00PM to 9:00PM or Saturday and Sunday.

    • On-call doctors will continue to be available after 6:00 PM for urgent issues.

    SAFETY AND SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS

    If you need to come in-person to a NEMS Clinic, please remember to:

    • Call ahead to make an appointment: 415-391-9686 or 650-550-3923 or 408-573-9686
    • Avoid entering the facility if you have a cough or fever.
    • Wear a face covering (mask, scarf, bandana, etc.). In San Francisco, surgical masks are required in any health care facility.
    • Maintain at least six feet (6') of distance from others.
    • To comply with County Health Orders, please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment.
    • Only 1 caretaker or guardian may accompany a patient if needed.
    • Health screenings (temperature checks and screening questions) will be asked and performed prior to entry into the clinic.
    • Please bring your NEMS ID, insurance cards, and active medication bottles to your visit.
    • Indoor waiting areas may be limited or restricted for safety purposes. We may need to ask that you wait outside.
    • Abide by our Social Distancing Protocols and follow the instructions of NEMS staff on site.

    NEMS is actively screening the temperatures of all visitors and staff; and will be implementing additional cleaning and sanitation practices.

    The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a global outbreak that has affected people in many countries, including Mainland China and the United States. Local, state, and now the federal government has since declared public health emergencies in hopes of stopping the spread of this disease.

    The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough and shortness of breath. If you have traveled to a country/region with cases of the new virus, and you develop symptoms, call your doctor and tell them about your symptoms and your recent travel.
