At this time, everyone can apply for full-scope Medi-Cal coverage, no matter their residency status. Apply today before the Medi-Cal enrollment freeze begins.
Medi-Cal Information
Medi-Cal is Medicaid for California. It offers free or low-cost health coverage to people who qualify. If you are currently a Medi-Cal beneficiary, it is important to remember the following:
Medi-Cal renewals happen every year, and starting January 1, 2027, they will happen every six (6) months. If you fail to re-enroll, you will lose your Medi-Cal coverage
Don’t miss your Medi-Cal renewal date! Create or check your BenefitsCal.com account to find out your renewal date and renew your Medi-Cal on time, online. You can sign up to get text or email alerts about your case.
Don’t miss important Medi-Cal information. Make sure the county has your current name, mailing address, phone number, and email address. If your information has changed, you can update it online at Benefitscal.com, or by calling 1-866-613-3777 (TTY) 1-800-660-4026. This way, the county can contact you about your Medi-Cal.
The county will mail you a letter about your Medi-Cal eligibility. In the past, you may have had your Medi-Cal renewed automatically. Rules recently changed and now, more Medi-Cal members will need to take action. Respond to all county requests quickly to stay covered.
Starting January 1, 2026, some adults will no longer be able to sign up for full-scope Medi-Cal coverage based on their residency status. If you already have Medi-Cal, you can keep your full-scope Medi-Cal coverage, but you must submit your renewal on time every year and continue to meet Medi-Cal rules, like income requirements and living in California.
