GET VACCINATED

Effective November 5, 2021, NEMS will provide COVID-19 vaccinations to anyone ages 5 and over!

Current NEMS Members

  • Please call our COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Line at 415-213-1971 to make a vaccination or booster appointment.
  • All patients under age 18 will need to have their parent/guardian accompany them to their vaccine appointment. Parents or guardians will be asked to provide contact information and a Photo ID at the appointment. For anyone under 18, please also bring your photo ID if available (for example, school ID or driver's license).

Not a NEMS Members?

  • New patients must register first by:
    • Dropping by one of ten NEMS clinics to register in person (using a kiosk or with staff)
    • Using our online registration portal (currently available in English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish)
    • Calling our COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Line at 415-213-1971

    COVID-19 VACCINE BOOSTERS

    First Booster Shot

    Everyone ages 12 and older can receive an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine ("first booster shot"). Current recommendations allow for "mix and match" dosing for booster shots, which means you may elect to receive a different vaccine type than you originally received. Teens 12-17 years old may only get a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine booster.

    • If you received the 2-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine series more than 5 months ago, it is recommended that you get a booster shot (for ages 12 and over).
    • If you received the 2-dose Moderna vaccine series more than 6 months ago, it is recommended that you get a booster shot (for ages 18 and over).
    • If you received the 1-dose Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine more than 2 months ago, it is recommended that you receive a Moderna or Pfizer booster (for ages 18 and over).

    Second Booster Shot

    People in certain groups or situations are now eligible to get a second booster shot:

    • Adults ages 50 and older who received their first booster at least 4 months ago
    • Anyone ages 12 and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised and who received their first booster at least 4 months ago
    • Adults ages 18 and older who received 2 doses of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine at least 4 months ago

    NEMS provides COVID-19 PCR testing to SYMPTOMATIC and HIGH-RISK ASYMPTOMATIC patients. The COVID-19 test will be conducted through one of our drive-thru or walk-thru testing sites.

    NEMS also offers free COVID-19 at-home rapid antigen tests to patients.

    You must be an existing NEMS member/patient -OR- you can register as a new NEMS patient to make an appointment for a PCR test or to pick up at-home rapid antigen tests. Please call us at 415-391-9686 ext. 8160 to be screened first or to register/renew as a NEMS patient.

    If you test positive for COVID-19, please inform your NEMS provider or your primary care provider immediately!

    TEST SOON AND TREAT EARLY

    NEMS is proud to be a "Test to Treat" program site. Whether you've tested positive using a PCR test or an at-home rapid antigen test, it's important for you to tell your primary care provider immediately.

    If you are a NEMS member and test positive for COVID-19, we can provide you with oral antiviral medications if you are at high risk of getting very sick. A NEMS provider will need to evaluate your COVID-19 case before prescribing treatment. COVID-19 treatments must be started early in order to work.

    NEMS Pharmacy has COVID-19 oral antiviral medication available for symptomatic patients who test positive for COVID-19 and have increased risk for hospitalization. Please notify your NEMS provider immediately and within 5 days of testing positive, so you can be evaluated as a candidate for treatment. COVID-19 treatments must be started early in order to work.

    SAFETY AND SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS

    If you need to come in-person to a NEMS Clinic, please remember to:

    • Call ahead to make an appointment: 415-391-9686 or 650-550-3923 or 408-573-9686
    • Avoid entering the facility if you have a cough or fever.
    • Wear a mask. In San Francisco, surgical masks are required in any health care facility.
    • Maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others.
    • To comply with County Health Orders, please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment.
    • Only 1 caretaker or guardian may accompany a patient if needed.
    • Health screenings (temperature checks and screening questions) will be asked and performed prior to entry into the clinic.
    • Please bring your NEMS ID, insurance cards, and active medication bottles to your visit.
    • Indoor waiting areas may be limited or restricted for safety purposes. We may need to ask that you wait outside.
    • Abide by our Social Distancing Protocols and follow the instructions of NEMS staff on site.

    The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a global outbreak that has affected millions of people around the world. Local, state, and federal governments have since declared public health emergencies in hopes of stopping the spread of this disease. To this day, COVID-19 variants continue to cause surges and hot spots in different parts of the world.

    The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough and shortness of breath.
