North East Medical Services Welcomes Five New Physicians to Its Internal Medicine Residency Program on Match Day 2026

加州帝利市—North East Medical Services (NEMS) is pleased to announce the addition of five new residents physicians to its Internal Medicine Residency Program on Match Day, March 20, 2026. The physician trainees are part of NEMS’ fourth class of Internal Medicine residents, who will begin their three-year journey to become primary care physicians in Summer 2026.

After an intense review with the recruitment committee, the NEMS Internal Medicine Residency Program has selected the following five physicians as part of the Class of 2029:

  • Anqi Duan, Peking Union Medical University in Beijing, China
  • Keshia Marice Gandionco, Cebu Institute of Medicine in Cebu City, Philippines
  • Bella (Beining) Wang, Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University in Shanghai, China
  • Annie (Zihui) Yang, Peking University Health Sciences Center in Beijing, China
  • Anqi Yao, Wuhan University School of Medicine in Hubei, China

Residents come from a variety of backgrounds and speak languages such as Mandarin and Tagalog.

“NEMS is excited to take active steps in addressing the shortage of primary care physicians that continues to challenge the provision of health care in the United States,” said NEMS Internal Medicine Residency Program Director, Dr. George Ishak. “We are grateful for the dedication of our teaching faculty and leadership at NEMS, as well are our many training partners in providing a comprehensive residency experience. We look forward to preparing these physicians to practice primary care in community settings across the San Francisco Bay Area.”

NEMS achieved the Sponsoring Institution accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in January 2022 and received ACGME accreditation for its Internal Medicine Residency Program in September 2022. NEMS is currently training three classes of residents—15 residents in total—who are expected to graduate in 2026, 2027 and 2028.

NEMS Internal Medicine Residency Program is funded in part by the Health Resources & Services Administration, Bureau of Health Workforce, Teaching Health Centers Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program. Established in 2010, the THCGME program is the only federal program that invests in the training of physicians in community settings other than hospitals. Today, there are 88 Teaching Health Center programs across the United States that are training approximately 1,254 medical residents.
