MAY 13, 2010 - To better strengthen communications between law enforcement and the community, the San Francisco Police Department has set up a Community Drop-In Center at the NEMS San Bruno Avenue Clinic. The drop-in center is staffed by Chinese-speaking police liaisons and can be reached by the public at:
North East Medical Services 2574 San Bruno Avenue, 1st Floor
San Francisco, CA 94134
Date/Time: Every Wednesday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm
Members of the community are encouraged to stop by and speak with the police liaisons about any concerns they may have or for assistance. Click here for a list of services available at the drop-in center.

MAY 7, 2010 - NEMS celebrated the opening of its newest clinic at 1450 Noriega Street in San Francisco's Sunset district with a special grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. The NEMS Board of Directors, staff and CEO Eddie Chan welcomed distinguished guests including California State Senator Leland Yee, San Francisco Supervisor Carmen Chu, and representatives from the offices of Speak Nancy Pelosi, California State Senator Mark Leno, and Assemblywoman Fiona Ma.
The Noriega Clinic offers primary care in Internal Medicine, Family Practice and Pediatrics, and features a Pharmacy on-site. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm, and on Saturday from 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm (Pharmacy is closed Saturday and Sunday). The clinic is closed on Sunday.

MAY 6, 2010 - NEMS is pleased to be hosting two Bone Marrow Donor Registration Events next week at our Stockton and San Bruno Clinics for staff and patients!
Staff from the Asian American Donor Program (AADP) will be on-site to help staff and patients register as bone marrow donors. The process is simple, painless and takes no more than 10 minutes to complete (40 seconds for a cheek swab and 5 minutes for paperwork). Please check out the attached flyers for more information!

1450 NORIEGA STREET (@ 22nd AVENUE) SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94122
The Taraval Clinic’s last day for services will be Thursday, April 29. The new Noriega Clinic will open for services on Monday, May 3. Members can continue to see Dr. Judy Hsu and Dr. Grace Fuong at the new, expanded Noriega location. Please take a look at the enclosed flyer for a comprehensive list of services and features.

comprehensive dental services at our San Jose clinic. Located
at 1715 Lundy Avenue, Suite 116, our practice offers modern
conveniences such as digital x-rays, electronic records, high quality
dental materials and infection control.
From April to August 2010, all new patients will receive a free
cleaning after an initial exam.

MARCH 10, 2010 - North East Medical Services will be rolling out electronic health records (EHR) at our Stockton Street Clinic in San Francisco's Chinatown beginning in mid-March. EHR will help increase the accuracy and efficiency of your health care visit in a safe and secure manner. NOVEMBER 25, 2009 - NEMS is pleased to announce that our newest clinic on 2574 San Bruno Avenue in San Francisco's Portola district will officially open for services on Monday, December 7, 2009! The clinic offers primary care services in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics and OB/GYN, on-site lab testing, pharmacy, optometry, and many other health care and enabling services!
Clinic hours are from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday. The clinic is closed on Sundays and for lunch everyday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

OCTOBER 30, 2009 - NEMS is honored to be receiving $150,000 over two years from the Kaiser Permanente 2009 Safety Net/Quality Improvement Initiative. Funds will support NEMS' ongoing quality improvement (QI) program, which will include the implementation of provider panel management, incorporating electronic health records (EHR) into QI efforts, and improving the health of patients with hypertension or who are at risk of Hepatitis B.
Our collaboration with Kaiser Permanente and other safety net providers is focused on continuously improving the patient experience. Working together, we are addressing chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity. We are making sustainable change that builds our capacity so that we can help more people in need. APRIL 13, 2009 - NEMS has expanded clinic hours at our new San Jose clinic at 1715 Lundy Avenue, now open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The clinic offers Internal Medicine and Family Practice services, and welcomes patients of all ages.
NOVEMBER 25, 2008 - Plans are underway to open NEMS' newest clinic in the Pacific Rim Mall at 1715 Lundy Avenue in San Jose! The clinic will open on a part-time basis starting December 1, 2008, and will offer Internal Medicine and Family Practice services. Our doctors and staff speak Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
At this time, we will be accepting self-pay/uninsured, Medi-Cal, and Medicare patients. We will begin accepting local managed care and private insurance plans, such as Healthy Families, Healthy Kids, and Blue Cross, at a later time.

AUGUST 11, 2008 - NEMS receives $40,000 from the Blue Shield of California Foundation as part of the 2008 Community Clinic and Consortium Core Support Initiative. Funds will be used to pay for a new hematology analyzer and supplies for the Laboratory department.
JULY 21, 2008 - NEMS appoints Eddie W. Chan, PharmD, as the new President and CEO. He succeeds Linda Bien, who passed away in February. Sophie Wong, who previously served as President and CEO from 1975 to 2003, and who stepped in as Interim CEO during the transition period, will remain as a consultant.
JUNE 20, 2008 - As part of its ongoing commitment to California, UnitedHealthcare and PacifiCare have awarded $250,000 to NEMS to purchase and implement a chronic disease management system over a two-year period.

DECEMBER 13, 2006 - NEMS celebrates the completion of a new mural outside of its future Portola district clinic on 2574 San Bruno Avenue in San Francisco. Graphic designer and artist Rene Yung worked with students from the Small Middle School for Equity to design and paint the colorful mural, capturing the hopes of dreams of the community's next generation.
NOVEMBER 9, 2006 - NEMS celebrates its 35th Anniversary with a gala dinner at the Empress of China Restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown.
NOVEMBER 8-10, 2006 - NEMS hosts "A Bridge to Health," the 5th Annual Asian and Pacific Islander Community Health Center Conference. The conference is attended by more than 150 guests from as far away as Micronesia to Boston, MA.
AUGUST 30, 2006 - NEMS now offers extended clinic hours at our Stockton Street Clinic in Chinatown! We will be open every Wednesday until 7:00 PM in the evening, and will offer limited Internal Medicine and Pediatric appointment slots by appointment or urgent need only. All appointments will be seen at the 5th Floor for now. No drop-in patients will be seen at this time, but we will inform the public of any changes in the future.
JUNE 12, 2006 - NEMS hosts a press conference for gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom on universal health care coverage for children in California.
MAY 26, 2006 - NEMS is awarded a $500,000 grant through the California Health Facilities Financing Authority's Community Clinic Grant Program of 2005.
